Judgment Day & The End of the World

***Before I begin this blog post, I just want to say that I although I am not an avid member of a church family, I do believe in God and have knowledge of the Holy Bible. I am not a religious expert, and will never claim to be free from Sin.  Also, everything that is in this post that is not of MY opinion, has been pulled from different websites, news articles, etc. Whether you believe it to true or false is left to your discretion.***

So, everywhere you look, the media is filled with prophecies of May 21, 2011, at 6pm, THIS very Saturday, to be the beginning of the end, Judgment Day.
There are reports of people spending their very last. One man spent all of his life savings, something like $140,000 to buy ads to warn the world of the end. Some are selling their property, even businesses with the conviction that there will be no way to operate a business amid the ruins of a post-apocalyptic world.
I can't say that I don't believe that May 21 will be The End, but I also can't say that I fully believe those who are prediciting this to be the exact date either because of in this passage in the Bible (King James Version):

Matthew 24:
4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8All these are the beginning of sorrows.....
23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. ....
35Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.....
42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Now comes this great urgency in the world for every person to be reconciled to God, because May 21 is the day of Judgment, when only true believers chosen by God will receive salvation and taken out of this world to meet and forever be with the Lord and all the rest of man will be left to experience the judgment, a horrible period of five months of torment upon Earth.
I found on a few websites that some say they have discovered the Biblical calendar of history.

It was in the year 4990 BC that God revealed to Noah that there would be yet 7 days until the flood of waters would be upon the earth. Now, if we substitute 1000 years for each one of those 7 days, we get 7000 years. And when we project 7000 years into the future from 4990 BC, we find that it falls on the year 2011 AD.
4990 + 2011 = 7001
Note: When counting from an Old Testament date to a New Testament date, always subtract one year because there is no year zero, resulting in:
4990 + 2011 – 1 = 7000 years exactly.
The year 2011 AD will be the 7000th year from the flood of Noah’s day. It will be the end of the length of time given to mankind to find grace in God’s sight. This means that the time to find refuge in Christ has grown extremely short. We are only a little ways off from the year 2011 AD!

Five months after May 21 will be October 21. This is predicted to be the VERY end of the world.
On Judgment Day, May 21st, 2011, this 5-month period of horrible torment will begin for all the inhabitants of the earth. It will be on May 21st that God will raise up all the dead that have ever died from their graves. Earthquakes will ravage the whole world as the earth will no longer conceal its dead (Isaiah 26:21). People who died as saved individuals will experience the resurrection of their bodies and immediately leave this world to forever be with the Lord. Those who died unsaved will be raised up as well, but only to have their lifeless bodies scattered about the face of all the earth. Death will be everywhere.

Remember a while back, the Mayan calendar was all over the place and December 2012 was/is the final day? Even George Lucas had given his blessing to the notion that the prediction was on target.
Remember the comet or asteroid that was/is supposed to hit Earth and end it all?
The flocks of birds that had fallen from the skies, persuading those unconvinced by the laws of science that it was a sign of The End of Times?
According to Harold Camping,  "A great earthquake will occur....This earthquake will be so powerful it will throw open all graves. The remains of all the believers..will be...glorified..the bodies of all unsaved people will be thrown out upon the ground to be shamed. The inhabitants who survive this terrible earthquake will exist in a world of horror and chaos beyond description. Each day people will die until October 21, 2011 when God will completely destroy this earth and its surviving inhabitants."

It's alot to think about.
Especially with all the earthquakes, the floods, the ever-changing weather. Just this week, New Jersey has been nothing but wet with rain. Loud raindrops fall every night. Some nights I've found it hard to fall asleep. The grey clouds every day also bring about the omnious feeling that something wicked this way comes.
It gives me the goosebumps to think about how possible it could be for this to all come to an end at any moment.
Not because I fear dying, because I truly believe that when it's our time to go, it's just our time to go, but because I cringe at the thought and possibility that I would not be able to see my three daughters grow into young women. That I may be denied the privilege of walking them all down the aisle, and/or the joy of being a grandmother.
Then I sit and wonder exactly how it would all end. After watching movies like Armageddon and The Day After Tomorrow  and 2012 one can only feel very unprepared. The destruction and helplessness that the movies portrayed always give me the chills. There is literally nothing we can do.
I don't know. I try NOT to think about it all, but it's hard to when it's all over the place. Just last morning, I woke up to the news on my tv and the first thing I heard was "May 21, 2011 is predicted to be the end." What a wake to way up, huh?

So, what are your thoughts on it? Do believe we are living our last week?  Will you be waiting around for 6pm's earthquake on Saturday evening?

Either way, end or not, God bless us all.
