1000 Things That Make Me Happy

A blog that I follow, Creative Pathways , has a list of 1000 things that make her happy. She read a book called 14000 Things That Make Me Happy and decided to do her own list. After reading the blog posts she's made dedicated to her list, I wondered if I could think of 1000 things that make me happy. Immediately the number itself seems impossible. But to think of of 1000 things seems even more impossible. So guess what? I've decided to give it a go. If nothing else, it'll make me more appreciative of the little things in my life that I may overlook every day that bring a little bit of joy.
Guess I'll start the first one today and right now. I can't say that I'll add to the list every week, let alone every day. Then when I'm done with this list, I'll try a list of 1000 other things. So, let's go!

1. My daughters' smiles.  "Rabbit", "Peanut", & "Monkey" can light up a room with their beautiful smiles. They are my everything and their happiness is my daily motivation.

2. Sleeping. The times that I do get some good sleep into my schedule are cherished like gold. I love sleeping.

3. Cooking. If you had known me when I was growing up and living with my parents my first few years as an adult, you would think I would be a terrible cook. I can admit my father and brother used to throw down in the kitchen and I was only there to eat it all up. I like to try new recipes and I've become a pretty decent cook these last 12 years of my life.

4.  My Husband's sense of humor. A nut, he is! (lol) There are days when I feel like death two times over and he can walk in and do or say the craziest, funniest thing and I can't help but to crack a smile. I appreciate Him for that. This picture was on his birthday and He felt the need to put on this wig and take a photo. (lol)

5.  A hot cup of green tea in the morning. I don't drink coffee so a coffee cup full of hot green tea in the morning to warm the engine is perfect.

6.  Photography. I never realized how much I like taking pictures until about 3 years ago. Although I don't like to be in front of the camera, there is a soothing joy that comes over me when I'm doing a photo shoot or just randomly taking photos of something beautiful.

7.  Driving. I blame this on my father, who used to let me drive from the stop sign to my house when I was younger. To this day, I can drive a full 500 miles, nonstop. As long as I have gas in the tank and somewhere to go, I'm out!

8.  Traveling. Although this is not something I get to do alot, especially with gas prices (and the prices of everything, just about), I love to travel. Preferably by car or train. I'm not a fan of flying but will when I have/really want to. I one day hope to be able to visit the West Indies, from which my family hails.

9.  My father. Anyone who knows me, or knows of me, knows that I am a Daddy's Girl. Being the only daughter and oldest child, I was first to have the privilege of his love for his children. He is my hero. My inspiration. My heart. I love my Daddy. :)

10. Sangria. Nothing says relax and enjoy like a cold glass of Sangria. Point. Blank. Period. I love it.

I did it! Off to a great, and easy start, it seems. It was fun. Especially looking for photos to illustrate.
I look forward to completing this list! :)

It's Sunday.
Sunday in my house means I get to sit all day doing my daughters' hair. yay fun.......end sarcasm! lol

Before I get started, here's numbers 11-20 of 1000 Things That Make Me Happy.

11. Chocolate! Even though eating chocolate breaks my skin out something terrible, I always have a chocolate bar or some kind of chocolate around for when I get those cravings. A girl can never have too much chocolate.

12. Music. Thanks to my Father, I love every genre of music. From Rap to Rock n' Roll. In my playlists you'll find everything from some old school Al Green, Pink, Marilyn Manson, My Chemical Romance, Sade, Run DMC, DMX, Gretchen Wilson, to Mahalia Jackson. Music can change an entire mood. "Music soothes the savage beast" is the truest statement I've ever known.

13. The Sims3 I had always heard about the Sims when it first came out, but was never interested in playing it to find out what it was about. Now, it's been 3 years and I am addicted to playing. I started playing Sims2 when I found the game at a video game store. Now, I'm playing Sims3 and it has become a must that I get every expansion pack I can get my hands on. Right now, I'm on a mission to get Generations and maybe Pets. I heart The Sims!

14. Manicures. I've always loved keeping my nails painted when I was younger. You know, before I became a mom and wife, and didn't have my hands in a sink full of dishes or a dishwasher, and the paint would last longer than a few days (lol). Now, as a cosmetologist, I know how to give myself an awesome manicure so every week, you'll find my hands being soaked, filed, moisturized and painted.

15. Pizza. And not just any pizza. But a Supreme Pizza. All the toppings. Even anchovies occassionally. Yes, anchovies. My father put me onto them when I was younger and I love it. Pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, ham, onion, black olives, green peppers, garlic sauce, and maybe jalepenos sometimes. *Daggonit, now I'm hungry.*

16. Cold Weather. Never realized until a few years ago that I hate hot weather. The heat. The sweat. The ruined makeup. Not awesome. Bad enough this perimenopause is kicking my butt so my hot flashes are my internal inferno. But to add nature's sweltering hot weather is not my cup of tea. I feel sorry for my family sometimes because all year round, I could keep the thermostat on 68 and be content. I'll look around at my family on the couch bundled in blankets and sweaters wondering why they're shivering (lol). Now, I sacrifice a few degrees and keep the house at about 72-75. Please believe, though, I'll be walking around in shorts and a tshirt to keep cool.

17. My hair. Especially now that I'm a natural! OMGoodness. It is a struggle to keep my hands out of my hair. It's so soft and fluffy. I'm so glad I've decided to stop relaxing my hair.

18. High Heels/Stillettos. Want to see me grin ear to ear? Put a new pair of heels in my sight and tell me they are my size! I have a closet full of heels/stillettos. A guilty pleasure.

19. Madden '10. The tomboy in me loved playing football with the neighborhood boys when I was younger. Now my 32 year old body won't allow me to get that active and risk injury so I play the video game on the PS3..usually against Mister. I'm pretty nice... "for a girl". (lol) Go Giants!

20. Hot Showers. Scalding hot water! Scented body wash! Heaven.

Only 980 to go! Yay!

It's that time again. More of the 1000 Things That Make Me Happy!
I am joining creative pathways, so be sure to stop by her blog and check out her list.

And now...*drumroll*....the list.

21. Massages. I just recently learned to appreciate the benefits of a good massage. Mister gives great massages, especially in my hair/on my head.. I've learned that I love foot massages.

22. Just Dance. Although the kids will have me in the living room ready to pass out from dancing for hours, I love playing Just Dance on the Wii. It's a great way to exercise without feeling like I'm exercising.

23. Reading Stephen King books. My father taught me how to read when I was 4 years old by reading a Stephen King book. So it seems only natural that my favorite author and type of books to read are Stephen King's.

24. My hot wings. My wings are awesome! Just a few years ago, I've started making hot wings. When I say hot, I mean, DEATH! My wings should come with a label. Something like this: Warning: This product contains the hottest known ingredients on the planet Earth. Please use with extreme caution. Be warned. The sauce contains ingredients 900 times hotter than a jalepeno chile. Use sparingly. Ultra Death should not be consumed without dilution.

25. "The Exorcist". I know it seems weird that such a creepy and 'satanic' movie is something that makes me happy, but it is my favorite 'horror' movie. It was the first movie that ever made me scared to go to bed at night after watching it when I was younger. Since then, I've been hooked on horror movies and always seem disappointed by the lack of good horror nowadays.

26. "Divorce Court". Every once in a while you'll catch a really funny case and wonder why they're even in Divorce Court. Other times, it's sad to know that people who have been together for so long find it neccessary to get divorced.

27. Jigsaw Puzzles. Want to see me disappear for hours on end? Let me find a nice jigsaw puzzle to do! I can sit still for hours/days on end putting a puzzle together. I even have my daughters loving to do puzzles. Buying the girls the 'easy, big, 50 pieces in a box' seems to bore them so they usually end up helping me do my 1000+ piece puzzles.

28. Makeup. I was/am a tomboy but somewhere along the line I found a love for makeup. Different colored eyeshadows, false eyelashes, pretty lipgloss and lipsticks...I am addicted to E.L.F. I have every single fingernail polish color, all of their eyeshadow palettes, and every color lipgloss. And here I am still thinking about getting more...this picture is just the beginning when I started ordering from them. Now I have an obsessive amount of makeup from them.

29. Chihuahuas. My very first chihuahua was Max. He was the most adorable little dog. We got him when I was pregnant with "Monkey" but had to give him away when Mister got deployed and "Peanut" & I went to live in NC for the time he was gone. I really wish I hadn't but we couldn't take him with us at the time. I hope to get another one soon. They are sooo adorable.

30. Facebook. If ever you're looking for me, you can surely find me on my facebook page. Whether it's on the laptop or mobile, I'm always on. Especially when I have free time to play Diner Dash, Family Feud, Millionaire, and Mystery Manor..I can waste HOURS on the games alone.

31. Jelly Belly Gourmet Jelly Beans. The different flavors that they have is amazing. I first had them back in 2002 when my Mister went to the store and bought a small assorted bag home. That day forward I have looooved them. The last time I had them, I bought a gallon ziplock sized bag when Mister & I went to Atlantic City in February of this year. We stayed in the Trump Towers and on one of the floors was a candy shop that had EVERY single flavor. Made no sense to only get a few so I filled the bag with every kind. Today, I still have some of those same Jelly Bellys. *yum*

Do you have a list?
A list of anything.....

And the list continues. Numbers 32 to 40. After this hard, long, hot week, making this list brought a smile to face. Aaaah, the little things....
Don't forget to run by Creative Pathways for her updated list.

32. The smell of hand sanitizer. I don't know why but the smell of sanitizer makes me happy. (lol) Not the ones that have a fragrance, but the ones that smell like gelled alcohol. Ever since my second pregnancy, it has been something that I've grown to 'need' in my life. *shrug*

33. Mister's scalp massages. Something about a man washing your hair...but then to have your husband's big manly hands wash your hair....*sigh*. It's hard not to drown in the sink (lol) because closing my eyes and drifting off is way too easy.

34. Poetry. I used to write a new poem everyday when I was in my teenage years, even more when I was in my late teens and experiencing puppy love. As time went by I stopped writing (and I need to get back into it.. I miss writing), but I still enjoy reading poetry.

35. Fried Catfish....not just any catfish. Mister's Fried Catfish. I thought my Father had the best catfish until Mister perfected his recipe. OMG....I don't even like to share when he makes it...

36. Cool breezes on a warm day. Nowadays, I have more hot flashes than a woman going through menopause. So a warm day is HELL for me. A cool breeze, no...a breeze at all, is heaven.

37. Swords. I'm not a fan of guns and I've always loved a sharp, clean blade. So it only makes sense that I have a love of and for swords. *these are not my swords but would love to have them in our collection*

38. Laughter is the best medicine.

39. White Diamonds Perfume. Maybe because my mother wore this perfume for as long as I can remember, it has become a scent that makes me think of her and home. I've never personally bought my own bottle of it, but love it when it's on my skin. (RIP Elizabeth Taylor)

40. Mortal Kombat. The video game was my favorite to play when I was a teenager. My younger brother and I could sit in the room and play for hours. We took it seriously! (lol) I'm thinking to buy the new Mortal Kombat game for the PS3 so that I can fight and defeat Mister a few times. Raiden was my favorite character to play with.
Have you decided to do a list?

*I had almost forgotten about my list of happiness! Shame on me*

41. Judge Mathis. Judge Mathis is one of my favorite court shows on TV. Not only is he smart and fair, he's also funny. I used to love when he would call someone a crackhead. lol

42. Joe's Crab Shack. I had never been to Joe's until after we moved here to North Carolina and OMG! LOVE. LOVE. LOVE! The last time Mister took me was on his birthday weekend and we ate and stuffed ourselves completely. I love seafood and Joe's is the perfect place to ease a seafood craving.

43. Scentsy is my favorite addiction. I have so many different scents it's ridiculous. The scent lasts forever and fills the whole house with a great aroma. I have yet to find a scentsy I don't like. My newest favorite is "Linger". If you haven't used it or heard of it, and you love to walk into a house with a pleasing aroma, you should definitely check out scentsy. I'm even thinking about becoming a consultant for scentsy.

44. Fatal Frame Series. This is maybe one of the only point and shoot (literally point and shoot with a camera) that I like and play. It's filled with ghosts and creepy story lines. Mister had it years ago when he had a PS2 but got rid of it when He bought a PS3. Just this week though, we found out that Game Stop was selling PS2s for only $29 and guess who's awesome husband bought one and all three of the Fatal Frame games for her? Yes, Mister did! Happy!

45. Mister's hugs. You know those times when you just need a good hug? Mister has some of the best hugs. I love the unexpected hugs he gives and they always seem to be just when I need them.

46. Spring.  Right now, it is about 83 degrees in NC. Winter is gone and it feels good. It's perfect weather right now: not too hot and beautiful sunsets to boot.

47. Money. I mean, really. Who doesn't love money? Wouldn't it be GREAT if it really grew on trees?

48. Get-togethers. To have the company of friends and good conversation and fun is a win-win.

49. My Bestie. We've been friends for almost 12 years now. We don't always see each other and we rarely call but when we do get together, we always have a good time. Even something as simple as playing Jeopardy on the computer for hours is fun. We like to do alot of the same things and she's an awesome friend I can always talk to. She's a beautiful person and I love her.

50. Dollar Tree. You can't beat going into a store and finding almost anything you need for only a dollar!

*I can admit that it has become harder and harder to think of 1000 things that make me happy without being redundant. I'm glad I put my list in my phone because it'd be a pain to go through the list from #1 to make sure I'm not repeating myself lol Sooooo, here's the next 11*

51. Sims Social on Facebook. I am so addicted to Sims3 so when they finally bought Sims to Facebook, I knew it was going to be a problem. lol I am finding that I only get on Facebook now to pretty much complete my Sims quests and get points and money and build. I love it.

52. Cookies & Cream Ice Cream. OMG! Want to see me in complete bliss? Give me a bucket of cookies and cream ice cream. It doesn't even have to be some big name brand..just cookies & cream. I've even found that usually that 'off-brand' brands are better than the name brands.

53. Orange Fanta. I used to love to drink Coke like water, but now I am a Fanta fanatic...but only orange. I don't like the other flavors at all.

54. Swimming. Something about being able to be weightless is so relaxing and freeing. We just got a pool for the girls this afternoon but I already have plans to be floating in it tomorrow afternoon.

55. The smell of the grill being started. I think the only thing better than the food on the grill is the smell of the grill being lit. The smell of new charcoal before the meat is on just does something to my senses.

56. Golden Girls. Just recently, Mister ordered the complete series for me. I'm on season 3 right now. I loooove Golden Girls and have no idea how I wasn't watching this when they were on the air. I can't pick a favorite character but I loooove Dorothy's sense of humor and sarcasm. I love to watch it because it almost feels like I get to travel back in time a bit. Weird, I know, but I guess because it's so new to me it kind of feels takes me back to the fashions and humor back then....

57. Little surprises. My favorite surprise was when Mister told me to get in the car 'because we're going to lunch' only for Him to pull up in front of Best Buy and buy the lens that I had been dying for. Unexpected and something that I wanted? That's a win.

58. Going to lunch with Mister. Since we've been here in NC, Mister has kind of made it a point for us to get out to eat together, alone, during lunch hours. I love it. Sitting in a restaurant as a couple, just us, is something we didn't have much of a chance to do before or after we got married. So now that we do get to do it, it seems that much better. Just this afternoon, we went to Applebee's...apparently our favorite lol

59. His Smile. Not just any smile. But His genuine, happy, amused, all 32 of His white teeth smile...I love it. And I know He's not smiling here but I love this picture of Him. He's so damn sexy. My chocolate addiction *fanning myself*

60. My kids' senses of humor. My girls are silly. Especially Monkey. They crack me up with some of the oddest things they say and do. Lil' comedians lol

61. My Aunt Sheila. I have A LOT of aunts but there is only one who keeps me laughing, makes me smile the minute I see her face, and always has a special place in my heart. Maybe because she's just like my Father. They could've easily been twins. She's my brother & my favorite Auntie! :)
